ProPILOT Assist

ProPILOT Assist has forward-thinking features that allow you to enjoy the ride while the car does much of the work. Introduced in the U.S. on the 2018 Nissan Rogue, the maker is pleased to now offer this technology on the Altima as well.

So what is ProPILOT Assist? It’s a step toward a self-driving car, but it is not an autonomous system. Instead, it’s a Level 2 Driver Assistance system with a long list of features such as speed control and brake assist that automatically maintains a safe distance between your car and the car ahead.

With steering, acceleration and braking assistance, drivers are able to relax on their journey—and the system also helps if you get into trouble along the way. If ProPILOT detects there is no hand on the steering wheel, visual and audible alarms will be deployed. If that doesn’t cause the driver to take the wheel, the system will pump the brakes, turn on the hazard lights, and ultimately come to a complete stop.

Standing Out from the Crowd

All of this impressive tech makes the Nissan stand out from the competition, such as the Accord, and as Nissan continues to perfect driver assistance technology, it’s only going to continue getting better. If you’re impatient, you can already read about what to expect on 2021 vehicles, such as the 2021 Nissan Rogue.
