At Giles Nissan Lafayette, we help buyers figure out which vehicle is right for them. If you’re in the market for a truck, you might be unsure about the differences between the Nissan Titan vs. the Nissan Frontier. The most obvious difference is that the Titan is a full-size truck and the Frontier is a mid-size truck. If you need the power and capacity of a full-size truck then the decision is easy.
If, however, the sheer payload and towing capacity isn’t as important to you, you’ll need to dive a little deeper into the differences between the two trucks in order to make your decision.
Let’s take a closer look.
Nissan Titan
Starting Price: $36,190
The Nissan Titan is a full-size truck offering up to 9,200 pounds of towing capacity and a payload of just over 1,300 pounds. The 5.6 liter V8 pumps out an impressive 400 HP, and the mileage is about what you’d expect at 16 city and 22 highway.
Choose from three trim levels in the king cab body (S, SV, and Pro-4X) and five trim levels in the crew cab body (S, SV, Pro-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve).
The mechanical features are very similar between trim levels with the main differences being whether or not rear-wheel drive is available and whether the electronic locking rear differential is available.
Interestingly, the standard safety features are identical on every version, which highlights Nissan’s commitment to safety. Some of the safety features include:
· Front, Side, and Knee Air Bags
· Roof Mounted Supplemental Air Bags
· LATCH System
· Front and Rear Crumple Zones
· Energy-Absorbing Steering Column
· Tire Pressure Monitoring System
All versions also feature a vehicle security system and Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System standard.
Most of the differences between trim levels come down to the exterior, interior, and infotainment options, but there are many features that come standard at all levels including:
· 7” Drive Assist Display
· Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
· Nissan Voice Recognition
· Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System
· Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant
· Sirius Radio with 3-month Subscription
· Radio Data System
· Illuminated Steering-Wheel Mounted Audio Controls
Nissan Frontier
Starting Price: $19,210
The Nissan Frontier is an affordable midsize truck. As is the case with the Titan, several trim levels are available for the Frontier. Crew cabs are available in S, SV6, SV6 Long Bed, Desert Runner, Pro-4X, and SL. King cabs are available in S, SV 4-cylinder, SV6, Desert Runner, and Pro-4X.
The starting price is significantly lower than for the Titan, yet the Frontier still delivers comfort and performance. Similar legroom and headroom are found in both, but if you opt for the extended cab, you’ll get less legroom with the Frontier.
As with the Titan, all available safety features come standard on every trim level.
There are many differences to be found when comparing Nissan Titan vs. Nissan Frontier including:
· 992 Pounds Max Payload Compared to the Titan’s 1,300 Pounds
· 6,200 Pounds of Max Towing Compared to the Titan’s 9,200 Pounds
· 261 HP Compared to the Titan’s 400 HP
Also, the security features that come standard on every version of the Titan are either optional or unavailable on certain Titan models.
Another big difference is the warranties. The Frontier comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty while the Titan has a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty.
The entertainment offerings are similar but, again, what comes standard on the Titan is more likely to be an option on the Frontier.
What’s The Difference Between The Titan and The Frontier?
Both trucks offer great value for the money. If you need sheer power and performance, the fullsize Nissan Titan is the way to go. For a solid truck at a budget-friendly price, the midsize Nissan Frontier works fine for many buyers.
